Quiet, established residential neighborhood in NW Amarillo (79106) near Amarillo Country Club and Westgate retail. Characterized by single-family homes, mature landscaping and short drives to grocery stores, banks and restaurants along Gem Lake Road and Amarillo Boulevard. Good for guests who want a suburban, low-traffic setting while remaining within 5–10 minutes of central services and 10–15 minutes of downtown Amarillo.

Primary mode: private car — the property sits just north of I-40 with fast east–west access. Rideshare and taxi services operate in Amarillo but can be slower in residential pockets. Amarillo City Transit provides limited fixed-route bus service; stops are typically on major arterials rather than inside quieter residential streets. Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA) is the regional commercial airport for flights; there is no regular Amtrak passenger rail service in Amarillo, so intercity travel by rail requires driving to the nearest Amtrak station outside the city. Parking is abundant; expect to rely on a car for errands and sightseeing.

This room in named in honor of Melissa Dora Oliver-Eakle. Her maiden name was Callaway. She was a philanthropist, industrialist, real estate developer and financier and Panhandle Legend who developed the Oliver-Eakle neighborhood; provided land to the city for Amarillo College and Memorial Park; funded Amarillo's first library; financed the Amarillo Opera House, built Amarillo's first skyscraper in 1927, now called the Barfield Building and helped establish the Tri-State Fair.
